What is crucial for Kay Walkowiak are those empty places as resulting from concretely arranging finite objects in the space: places where there is nothing. Actual free spaces which are not materially occupied by any object and thus create an open place for the power of imagination which it may occupy by filling the unoccupied place with absent objects.
