SEXY AND COOL. MINIMAL GOES EMOTIONAL
2018

Minimal art has been recorded in “cultural memory” as one of the most influential stylistic genres of the 20th century, with artists such as Donald Judd, Carl Andre, or Sol LeWitt. The exhibition Sexy and Cool: Minimal Goes Emotional looks at the afterlife of minimal art in the present. Starting from historical, post-minimalist artists, the curators selected twenty-one contemporary positions that refer formally and conceptually to the approaches of minimal art, but whose works also include a sensual-corporeal, emotional level. Through expanding the elementary forms of minimal art to include extra-artistic fields and once again connecting them with the world, the historical stylistic genre is brought up to date for the present.
