UNTITLED (MOON BLOCKS)
2016
Fine art pigment print on textile, 3D glasses

80 x 500 cm

Integrated in the culture of daily life in Taiwan, people communicate with gods, ghosts and spirits with the help of the „Bwa Bwei“ (擲筊), two moon shaped wooden blocks. During prayer the objects function as a medium, connecting to the reality of invisible beings. By using the technique of a 3D print, a visual phenomenon can be experienced, making the moon blocks „floating“ above the ground. Without a consistent body of solid matter, they seem to inherit the quality of being connected to subtler or even „virtual“ realities.
